Last July, NC Governor Perdue signed Senate Bill 43 (Session Law 2009-282) which requires certain operators of power boats (over 10 horse power) to complete a boating safety educational course for anyone under age 26 by May 1, 2010 from an approved provider.
The original Bill would have imposed a fine of $100 plus court costs.
The final Bill is only court costs which could be waved if showing proof that a proper boating educational course was passed before court appearance. Review the other 'in compliance' sections of the Bill. (Web link follows below)
Personal Water Craft (PWC). A vessel livery must provide the operator of a leased PWC with basic instruction in addition to the minimum age requirements.
