If you think leaders of local high-technology/low-impact businesses should be setting the agenda for the future of our economy, join the Cape Fear Economic Development council group. See details.

The Cape Fear Economic Development Council (CFEDC) intends to provide a vision for the future economic development of the Cape Fear region that builds on our already strong tourism, fisheries, film / television and pharmaceutical / medical device industries. Moreover, we seek to encourage the growth of the existing small but dynamic software, electronics and related high-technologies. Green building and alternative / renewable energy are also consistent with our economic vision, not to mention the fact that the recently passed economic stimulus package strongly emphasizes these areas, suggesting strong potential for growth in coming years.

CFEDC will specifically work to discourage high-impact / heavy industry economic development that degrades the value of our natural resources, negatively impacts fisheries and tourism and detracts from the quality of life that entrepreneurs seek when considering a place to locate a business.

Our Google and LinkedIn groups are intended as a stop along the way toward forming a non-profit entity, establishing a public web presence and launching a public campaign for membership. We need local people with a business vision, satellite workers, local business owners, senior management types in low-impact/green industries, etc to join and contribute. Please do what you can to help us get that process underway.

Please refer friends and colleagues to join the group and participate in the dialog.

HI Lloyd, I just joined the linkedin group and I'm looking forward to more updates from you in the future. Thanks!
I joined as well -- let me know how/where else I can participate.
Thanks, Tom. I will post an announcement about our first meeting as soon as I settle the when and where. Best way to help right now is to refer your like-minded colleagues to join the discussion, bring their ideas on how to make Wilmington a better place to live and work, and most importantly, how to make Wilmington globally economically competitive without sacrificing the above goals. Thanks for your support!
